Grand Lake Casino Sponsorship Supports Ketchum Backpack Program

Grand Lake Casino announced it is continuing its efforts to give back to the community by joining in sponsorship of the September 3rd Redneck Yacht Club party hosted by the popular Grand Lake area band Lickitty Split.

“We are delighted to add our sponsorship to this popular event in support of the Ketchum Back Pack Program,” said Grand Lake Casino General Manager Dusty Logan.  “The entire community joins together in this important project which provided healthy weekend meals for 103 students in the Ketchum Public School system last year – and the program continues to grow. We are excited to join forces with the South Grand Lake Lions Club, the Ketchum United Methodist Church, and the many volunteers who work tirelessly to make sure no student in the community goes hungry.”

The Lickitty Split 4th Annual Redneck Yacht Club raft-up is an event that gives Grand Lakers an opportunity to spend a fun afternoon on the water while raising money for a worthwhile community project.  All proceeds for this year’s event go towards helping the Lions Club fund the increasingly important Back Pack Program in Ketchum. The South Grand Lake Lions Club raises the majority of funding for the program. The food is purchased by Lions Darrel & Sheryl Hicks who deliver it to Pamela Neibauer and her group of dedicated volunteers at Ketchum United Methodist Church. They sort and pack the food, and deliver it to Ketchum Public Schools for distribution to students who might not otherwise have healthy snacks and meals over the weekend when they are not at school.

“These programs are more important than ever,” said Dusty Logan. “When the Ketchum Back Pack Program started five years ago, they served 36 students.  Last year, they provided healthy meals for 103 kids – and the need is even greater this year.

“We are grateful to have a growing business that provides jobs and opportunities in the Grand Lake area – and participating in sponsorship of events that provide badly needed support for vital community programs like the Ketchum Back Pack Program is an important part of our continuing efforts to give back to the Grand Lake community,” Logan said.
