Busy Fall Weekend at Shangri-La

There’s plenty of action at Shangri-La this weekend – and the weather forecast looks perfect! It’s a good thing, too, because it’s CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND with tournament play bothSaturday and Sunday. The weekend action starts with the Friday Night Yellow Rabbit Run Horse Race at 5:00.  If you want in on the Horse Race action, sign up – because this is likely the last weekend of the year for that fun event. Sunday-Tuesday, we’re excited about the return of the Missouri Southern State University Invitational Golf Tournament spotlighting some of the best college players in the region – and Monday is also the SLWGA Play Day (Poker).
 
It will be an all-fun-all-the-time weekend at Island Joe’s as the crew celebrates nine great years of fun on the last weekend for Island Joe’s Kentena.  DJ Larry Bolton will provide the musical fun beginning at 3:00 on Saturday, with DJ Leah taking over the honors Sunday afternoon at 3:00. Join us in wishing Tena and Kenny Smith the very best – and enjoying a final fun frolic all weekend at Island Joe’s (open from 4:00 Friday, from 11:00 a.m. Saturday & Sunday).
 
In the Buffalo Bar, it’s a packed weekend of televised sporting events, including complete coverage of The Tour Championship Tournament. On the college football schedule, OU is idle this weekend and the Tulsa-Fresno State game is not televised, but we’ll have a great selection of games including OSU-Baylor at 6:30 Saturday night and Arkansas-Texas A&M at 8:00. College action starts early this week with Georgia Tech hosting Clemson Thursday night at 6:30 and SMU hosting TCUFriday night at 7:00.
 
NFL games this week include Houston at New England Thursday night, Denver at Cincinnati and Minnesota at Carolina at noon Sunday, followed by the New York Jets at Kansas City at 3:30, and Chicago at Dallas Sunday night.  Monday Night Football features Atlanta at New Orleans – and NASCAR action is Sunday afternoon this week, live from Dover International Speedway at 1:00Sunday.
 
Remember the Summit Restaurant is open for breakfast Saturday & Sunday mornings at 8:00 as well as lunch and dinner service Thursday-Monday. In addition to the Summit Restaurant and Buffalo Bar, the Turn House is also open daily with snacks, sandwiches and beverages for golfers on the run.
 
Sail Grand remains open for boat and personal watercraft rentals, parasailing and yacht charters out of Shangri-La Marina.  Call 918-257-6000 for reservations. It looks like a terrific weekend ahead.  We hope you will spend some of it with us at Shangri-La.
