Wellbriety Program to Help Those Seeking Balance and Wholeness in Their Lives

Grand Nation program starts 12-week recovery support sessions based on Native American spirituality and principles.

Wellbriety means to be both sober and well. A national recovery support movement based on Native American spirituality and principles, Wellbriety goes beyond “clean and sober” by helping individuals find balance and wholeness in their lives — mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Grand Nation is offering Twelve Steppin’ Around the Medicine Wheel in Twelve Sessions, a local Wellbriety program that is open to anyone who is seeking balance and wholeness in their life, especially those who are dealing with addiction.

Facilitated by the Rev. Dr. Bill Blue Eagle McCutchen (Chickasaw), the 12-week program begins Thursday, April 5. The structured sessions will be held at the Grand Nation office, 123 S. Wilson, in Vinita, every Sunday.

“Wellbriety is a mutual support peer group where participants can expect to examine themselves and their lives while also being supportive of others in the group who are supporting them,” McCutchen said, “The movement is based on Native American principles but everyone is welcome, including non-Natives.”

A certified firestarter (facilitator) with White Bison which started the Wellbriety movement, McCutchen said the program will benefit any adult 18 and older who is seeking balance and wholeness in their life and wants to go beyond their addiction or trauma.

Twelve Steppin’ Around the Medicine Wheel in Twelve Sessions utilizes two sources: “The Sacred Tree & Gifts of the Medicine Wheel: A Workshop in Native American Spirituality” and “The Red Road to Wellbriety in the Native American Way”. Each participant will receive a free copy of “The Sacred Tree & Gifts of the Medicine Wheel” and a syllabus.
