New Rotary Officers for 2020-2021

On July l, the Grove Rotary Club installed its officers for the 2020-2021 year. Carol LaRue passed the presidential gavel on to Robert Carter who has been a member of the club for eight years.

Carter launched his vision for this coming year by creating the slogan for 2020 as, “See the Vision, Be the Vision.”

Among his goals is to develop a project that will benefit the community as well as create a fall event that will help raise money for community funding grants. “We will be exploring some type of fall fundraising event to help supplement the loss of this year's Lobster Fest, and of course we plan on being back next year with a Lobster Fest that is bigger and better than ever.”

He thanked outgoing president Carol LaRue for her leadership and stewardship of the club during the past year. “I've said it before, and you will hear me say it again. I believe that Carol was the perfect person to lead our club during this time of the pandemic. Her steady hand and confidence never faltered. Her ability to lead in a time of "crisis" was just what we needed.”

Carter is the senior pastor at Trinity Baptist Church in Grove where he has been associated with the church since 2012. He is retired from Comcast Communications where he was the Division Vice President of Business Services.

While living in Atlanta, he formed a professional Southern Gospel Quartet called First City and sang throughout the Greater Atlanta area.

Other Rotary officers for the coming year are Joel McCorkle, president-elect; Carol LaRue, past president; Cindy Hefner, secretary; Ron Walter, treasurer. Board members for the coming year include Cheryl Flood, Ward Miller, Tom Riggs, Nina Eads, Don Pappe and Ken Spragins.
