 SHANGRI-LA REPORT

Shangri-La -  SLWGA

Report from Candy Couch: The month of July was another busy month for our SLWGA.  On July 11, 2017, our interclub team traveled to the Muskogee Country Club and competed against the Hillcrest Country Club’s interclub team.  Our team won handily in this competition. Our next interclub will take place on Thursday, August 10

th, 2017 at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow. Ladies from the 3-State area will be coming to beautiful Shangri-La for the 80th Annual Women’s Tri-State Golf Championship on Sunday, July 23rd through Tuesday, July 25th. Twelve (12) of

our SLWGA members will be playing in this tournament. Kaye Hansen and Judi Barber have worked very hard over the last year getting this tournament organized and have done an excellent job. Our SLWGA members playing are:  Kaye Hansen, Judi Barber, Candy Brasel, Candy Couch, Carol Cable, Liz Paden, Peggy Blair, Peggy Howard, Ann Turner, Robin Purdie, Susan Jones and Vicki Graper.  Good Luck to these ladies along with all the other 75+ ladies coming to enjoy our wonderful golf course and staying at our new Shangri-La Hotel Resort!

Don’t forget to sign up for the upcoming women’s Scramble on Saturday, August 5th. You can sign up on-line or call The Pro Shop. Linda McCulla and Candy Brasel have agreed to host this fun event. There is a $10 cash entry fee and there will be a Shotgun start beginning at 12:15pm.  Show up early so teams can be made up by the Pro Shop prior to this event. We are so proud of two of our ladies who both shot 75’s in the last few weeks during our Monday play day competitions. Congratulations to Ann Turner and Robin Purdie.

GOLF TIP OF THE WEEK

When putting, concentrate on a spot 3 to 4 inches in front of your ball that will roll over the line that you want to go on. That SPOT is more important than anything else in your putt.

GOLF JOKE of THE WEEK
Negotiations between union members and their employer were at an impasse. The union denied that their workers were flagrantly abusing the sick-leave provisions set out by their contract. One morning at the bargaining table, the company’s chief negotiator held aloft the morning edition of the newspaper, “This man,” he announced, “called in sick yesterday!” There on the sports page, was a photo of the supposedly ill employee, who had just won a local golf tournament with an excellent score. A union negotiator broke the silence in the room. “Wow!” he said. “Just think of the score he could have had if he wasn’t sick!”
