Grand Lake Celebrates Halloween with Spooktacular Events

Whether you’re looking for spooky thrills and chills, family-friendly fun or just want to know where you can get your hands on lots of candy, the Grand Lake area has plenty of festivals, celebrations and events to ensure the whole family has a spooktacularly good Halloween.

 

Fall-Themed Events

Ease into the Halloween-themed fun this year by taking in one or more of these fun fall-themed events:

The city of Jay is celebrating autumn’s arrival with a Fall Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, on the Delaware County Courthouse Square, 327 S. 5th St. The day’s lineup of fun includes music, food trucks, bounce houses, lawn games and face painting.

Fall Fest is free to the public. The event is hosted by the City of Jay/Jay Utilities Authority. For more information, contact Camrine Thompson at (918) 705-1898, or email fallfest@jaychamber.com.

The city of Welch is hosting its Annual Welch Harvest Days on Saturday, Oct. 21 starting at 9 a.m. The day will be filled with dancing, delicious food, a boo-ha-ha parade, a costume contest and much more. Make plans not to miss this fun-filled day.

Pumpkins will once again be flying through the air at the World Championship Punkin Chunkin on Saturday, Oct. 28. Gate will open at 8 a.m. at the high-flying competition at John’s Tractor Works, 444924 U.S. Highway 60/66 in Vinita.

General admission is $5. Children twelve and under are free.

Spooky Fun for the Entire Family

 

Bring your little ghouls and goblins to Bernice Area Saturday, Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. to enjoy a fully decorated campground with candy at each turn. This trick-or-treating event is sure to be a HOOT!

Ages 0 - 5 are invited to the Vinita Library on Monday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m for A Spooky Little Storytime. This is a great way to get your little’s into the Halloween spirit with a story that will make you howl with laughter. Tuesday, Oct. 24, Spooky Story Time and Haunted History is a night filled with local history and a few frights along the way. The haunting fun starts at 6:00 p.m.

Do you feel brave? October 27 through October 29, you’re invited to come test that bravery at Terrors in the Woods.

Terrors in the Woods promises to attack all the senses by offering “a little bit of a lot of different types of scares that aren’t just people jumping out and screaming at you.” 

Terror in the Woods is open from 7 p.m. to midnight Friday, Oct 27 and Saturday, Oct 28 and from 7 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct 29.

The fun will also include spook trails, a Trunk or Treat, and lots of fun and games for the kiddos. There will also be contests for best-decorated vehicles, best-dress kids, adults, groups and best-dress pets with cash prizes awarded to the winners.

Shangri-La Fall Festival promises Halloween fun for kids of all ages. From 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, the public is invited to attend this free event that will be held at the Anchor.

There will be a costume contest, kid games, karaoke and much more.

Bring your family and enjoy the FBC Fun Fest on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. Lots of fun is planned with our glow theme! Kids can dress in costumes (or not) and enjoy some glow themed activities!

Families will find plenty of fun activities at the Annual Sweet Street / Boo Ha Ha Parade on Route 66 in downtown Miami Tuesday, Oct. 31. From 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., the fun, family celebration will include inflatables, games, music, activities and lots of candy.

Downtown businesses will be handing out candy. Local organizations and churches not located along Route 66 will also be set up to give out candy as well during Sweet Street.

A great alternative to traditional trick or treating in neighborhoods, the event also includes the Boo Ha Ha parade across the stage at the historic Coleman Theatre. Costumed children can parade across the stage, which will be decorated by Miami Little Theater, and pose for pictures.
