Mother's Day Brunches

This strawberry waffle brunch item at The Lighthouse restaurant is just one of many brunches and specials to be found around Grand Lake this Mother's Day.

“M” is for the million things she gave me.

“O” means only that she’s growing old.

“T” is for the tears she shed to save me.

“H” is for her heart of purest gold.

“E” is for her eyes with love-light shining.

“R” means right and right she’ll always be.

Put them all together they spell MOTHER, a word that means the world to me.

Over the years, thousands of songs have been written in praise of mothers. From country and classical to rock and hip hop, singers in all musical genres have paid tribute to moms everywhere.

In 1915, Theodore Morse and Howard Johnson penned the song, “M-O-T-H-E-R”. Its simple words and melody have stood the test of time.

On Sunday, May 12, mothers will once again be celebrated. It’s a special day to honor your mother, grandmother or that special maternal figure in your life for the role she has played in your life.

This Mother’s Day, write mom a melody if you’re so inclined. Or, thank mom for her hard work and the selfless love she’s shown by treating her to a grand meal or showering her with gifts.

The following Grand Lake restaurants, boutiques and businesses are offering special meals, discounts and sales to help you celebrate mom this Mother’s Day.

Ailey Cafe

This classic American, family-owned cafe in Langley will be serving a steak special for Mother’s Day. The $17.95 special will include an 8-ounce steak, four butterflied shrimp, baked potato, a veggie, salad and a roll.
