Grove Lobster Fest

Lobster Fest volunteer Kay Wells shows off one of the lobsters destined for dinner at the last Grove Rotary in 2019.

Grove LobsterFest is back!! – And ready to support the community, according to an announcement by Grove Rotary Club President Robert Carter.  The popular fundraiser is set for Friday, June 18, at the Grove Civic Center.  Tickets are $75 and may be purchased online at www.groverotary.org.  “As in past years, we expect tickets to go fast, so we recommend your snapping them up as soon as possible,” Carter said.    Last year, the club was forced to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic, instead holding a “Stronger Together” drive that raised funds for scholarships and community grants.  In previous years, LobsterFest raised more than $100,000 for the community.  “Details are still being worked out, but we are working hard to make LobsterFest ‘21 a safe, fun and successful event,” Carter said.  He said the evening will include live music, fun games, and silent and live auctions.  As in previous years, the menu will feature fresh lobsters flown in from Maine, along with traditional side dishes and a spectacular dessert.  As an alternative, ticket buyers may choose a steak dinner in advance.  Another alternative will be to order a “to go” boxed dinner of either lobster or brisket, with all the fixings, which can be enjoyed while bidding on exciting items in the online auction.   Several luxury packages will go up for bidding at the live auction, while numerous silent auction items will be available for bids.   “Besides being a fun event, LobsterFest makes a big difference in this community,” Carter said.  “In the past, we have provided grants to community programs such as the Community Crisis Center, educational projects, Christian Medical Clinic, Citizens Police Academy, YMCA, Playmakers, Har-Ber Village, Lendonwood Gardens and more.”   Grove Rotary also supports college and vocational scholarships with the help of LobsterFest proceeds.  Two vocational students are selected each year for $2,150 full-tuition scholarships to Northeast Technical Center.  Three Grove High School students receive four-year Rotary scholarships currently valued at $7,200 each.   “Those funds come almost entirely from LobsterFest,” Carter said.  “With strong support for this benefit, the quality of life in our community can continue to be enriched and improved.”
