Weather Forecast Delays Barkaritaville Again

The Parrot Steakhouse & Grill will still be hosting the second annual event, which will be held beneath lighted tents set up at Honey Creek Landing and Marina in Grove. The evening will include a “Cheeseburger in Paradise” dinner, live music and a silent auction for charity.

This is the second time organizers have had to move the date due to in-climate weather. The event was originally planned for May, but the potential for bad weather forced organizers to move the event to June 2.

The board members of Second Chance Pet Rescue have apologized for any inconvenience these changes may have caused and have made plans to insure that Barkaritaville will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19, rain or shine.

“In the event of bad weather on August 19, Barkaritaville will be held at an alternative location, the Grove Civic Center, following the scheduled ‘Cars for Critters’ Indoor Car Show, which will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” said Carol Rice, a member of the 2017 Barkaritaville planning committee.

Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased at Second Chance Thrift Shop, 220 East 3rd St., Grove, and The Parrot Steakhouse & Grill or online at www.doitforthepets.com.

Tickets are $40 a piece and all proceeds benefit Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake.

Tickets that have already been purchased for the Barkaritaville benefit will be good for the August 19 event, organizers said. A 501(c)3 not-for-profit, private animal shelter, Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake has been working to provide a caring, safe and loving environment for abused and abandoned dogs and cats in the area since 1984.

Barkaritaville is the organization’s primary fundraiser.
