A magnificent weekend at Shangri-La

As you plan your schedule, remember the Summit Restaurant will be closed for regular dinner service Saturday evening, November 5, to accommodate our special reservation-only Michael Zinke Wine Dinner ($125). If you would like to attend the Wine Dinner and haven’t already made reservations, please do so ASAP. If you are a member of the Shangri-La Wine Club, there is no charge for this event, but reservations are still a must.
 
If you would like to sit at the bar and watch the OSU and Arkansas games (2:30 kick-off), we invite you to do so.  However, there will be no food service available after 4:00 p.m. to allow our kitchen staff to prepare for the wine dinner. Other than the special closing Saturday evening, the Summit Restaurant and Buffalo Bar are operating on scheduled winter hours of operation. Sunday-Tuesday,10:30-5:00; Thursday 10:30-9:00; Friday & Saturday 10:30-10:00.
 
The Shangri-La Women’s Golf Association wraps up a great season and opens the book on another year Saturday morning. All women who are members of Shangri-La are invited to attend.  Cost of the luncheon is $25 (excluding alcohol) to be charged to your member account. New SLWGA apparel will be available for “try-on” at 10:00 Saturday morning, followed by the regular SLWGA meeting at 10:30.  Lunch will be served at 11:15, followed by golf. Dues for the 2017 year are due at this even ($75 for existing members, $85 for new members).
 
There is great sports action this week in the Buffalo Bar beginning Thursday night with the Oklahoma Sooners in a rare Thursday night game at Iowa State (6:30). The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open also gets underway Thursday on the PGA Tour and Atlanta is at Tampa Bay on the NFL schedule.
 
In Saturday college football action, we will feature two big games – OSU at Kansas State and Florida at Arkansas, both at 2:30. For horse racing fans, this is the biggest weekend of the year. Coverage of the Breeders Cup races begins at 4:00 Friday and 1:30 Saturday.
 
Our coverage of Sunday’s top NFL games this week includes Dallas at Cleveland and Jacksonville at Kansas City – both at noon.  The 3:30 game sends Indianapolis to Green Bay.
 
It looks like a really nice fall weekend ahead.  Hopefully, you can get out on the golf course or on the water but, at any rate, we hope you will spend some of it with us at Shangri-La. Happy November!
