Upcoming Events at Shangri-La October 18-24, 2018
The Friday afternoon “Yellow Rabbit Run” horse race season has come to an end and the Home of Hope Golf Team has played the year’s final tournament – but the Shangri-La Women’s Golf Association will be back on the course Monday morning for their regular Monday Play Day with a Pro Drive format for both 9-holers and 18-holers.
Two important reminders: 1) If you have not already downloaded the all-new FREE Shangri-La Resort app on your phone, please get it now. It’s easy. Just go to your app store, search “Shangri-La Resort,” click on our logo and download the app. You’ll never be without Shangri-La info again. 2) Be sure to mark your calendar for the “Shangri-La Community Fall Festival” Saturday, October 27 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. We’ll have lots of fun, food, fire and scary hayrides for kids of all ages – plus live music from “No Apparent Reason.” The event will be in the “Shangri-La Woods,” adjacent to the Monkey Island Fire Department.
New Operating Schedules Upcoming for Doc’s and the Summit!
As a reminder, Shangri-La dining options will be revised early next month. In order to ensure top-quality food and beverages and attentive service for our members and guests with a smaller off-season staff, once Daylight Saving Time ends, Shangri-La Resort will implement some operating and scheduling changes for Doc’s Bar & Grill and The Summit Restaurant effective Monday, November 5, 2018.
Beginning on that date we will offer seven-day-a-week breakfast and lunch service at Doc’s Bar & Grill and seven-day-a-week dinner service for members and hotel guests at The Summit Restaurant. We will also expand the Summit dinner menu significantly to offer a wider variety of choices. The seven-day-a-week dinner service at The Summit should also be of benefit to members as they make their dining plans to meet off-season food minimums. This change for the off-season ensures that we still accommodate our members and guests three meals a day with the quality of food and service you expect.
Beginning Monday, November 5, Doc’s Bar & Grill will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. seven days a week. The Summit Restaurant will be open from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
We are hosting a great group of guests at the resort this week including Fagron Sterile Services, AVB Bank, and Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma. The SLWGA will also be holding their board meeting at Shangri-La Monday.
Chef Mike and his culinary crew have a very special Sunday Brunch line-up for the Summit Restaurant this week (10:00-2:00). This week’s menu choices include Southern Style Eggs Benedict, a Monte Cristo Sandwich, Banana Fosters French Toast and The Big Country Breakfast. In addition to a great menu, we also offer a great selection of brunch libations. Ask about our Café Cocktails. If you prefer, there’s also always a great breakfast menu at Doc’s.
Doc’s Bar & Grill is Grand Lake’s favorite spot for watching sporting events. We’ll have all your favorite sports action again this week, including PGA golf, the OU-TCU game Saturday morning, Major League Baseball playoff games, NASCAR racing, and NFL action, as well as OKC Thunder basketball.
Until November 5, Doc’s is open daily for three meals, and also offers Pizza Delivery Service on Monkey Island Thursday-Monday. There is a phone number dedicated exclusively to that service. If you live on the Island, just call 918-257-7777 and place your order. We’ll bring it right to your door.
