Upcoming Events at Shangri-La September 20-26, 2018
It’s time for one of the most fun events of the year – “A Taste of Grand” featuring a wide assortment of food & beverages prepared by the best restaurants in the Grand Lake Area. Chef Mike and his culinary crew will be participating again this year. The event is set for Saturday night outdoors at the Integris Grove Medical Plaza (or the Grove Civic Center in the event of rain) beginning at 6:00 p.m. Chef Mike and Executive Pastry Chef Julie Morgan have planned some fabulous dishes. We hope you can join us to enjoy the fun as we raise money for the Integris Grove Medical Foundation. And be sure to cast your vote for “Team Shangri-La!”
We are hosting a great group of guests at the resort this week. The GRDA and FERC wrap up their four-day National Shoreline Management Workshop today. We are also honored to be joined by Ameristar Perimeter Security USA, Wagoner Hospital, Jasco, Glaxo Smith Kline, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, SemGroup Corporation, and the Heartland Frame Builders Association.
It’s a big week on the golf course. Friday afternoon at 5:00 is our weekly “Yellow Rabbit Run” Horse Race. Sign up at the Golf Shop if you would like to play in that popular competition. Sunday, we welcome college golf teams from throughout the four-state region for the Missouri Southern State University Invitational Tournament which will get underway Monday and Tuesday. Monday is also a regular play day for the SLWGA. 18-holers will be playing LG/LN/Orange Ball while 9-holers will play LN/Orange Ball.
Chef Mike and his culinary crew have a very special Sunday Brunch line-up for the Summit Restaurant this week (10:00-2:00). Menu choices this week include Southern Eggs Benedict, Grilled Cheese and Tomato Basil Soup, Blueberry Islander Pancakes, and a Garden Frittata. This weekly special offering from the Summit has grown into one of Grand Lake’s most popular weekend dining experiences.
Eddy’s is closed for the season; but the Ship Store and fuel dock at the marina remain open daily; and you can still boat to dining and drinking opportunities and outdoor dining options at Doc’s Bar & Grill which remains open 365 days a year, serving three meals a day at Shangri-La’s Resort Hotel. Doc’s provides all the outdoor features of Eddy’s – football, baseball & golf coverage and al fresco dining – while still providing the option of quickly moving indoors. Eddy’s will re-open in the Spring, 2019.
Doc’s Bar & Grill is Grand Lake’s favorite spot for watching sporting events. At the time of this notification, DirecTV still hasn’t provided a “commercial” price of the pay-per-view telecast of Saturday’s OU-Army game. We hope to have it, but we’re not sure, yet. We’ll notify you as soon as we know, one way or the other. We’ll have all your other favorite sports action, including the PGA Tour Championship, OSU and Tulsa games, and NASCAR racing. Doc’s is open daily for three meals, and also offers Pizza Delivery Service on Monkey Island Thursday-Monday. There is a phone number dedicated exclusively to that service. If you live on the Island, just call 918-257-7777 and place your order. We’ll bring it right to your door.
