What's Happening at Shangri-La This Weekend

It’s a very busy weekend at Shangri-La, beginning with the weekly “Yellow Rabbit Run” Horse Race at 5:00 p.m. Friday. Contact the Golf Shop if you would like to sign up ($10 entry). That kicks off Championship Weekend at Shangri-La. Both Men’s and Women’s Club Championships are on the line with tee times at 8:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The Missouri Southern State University Invitational College Tournament players will be arriving for practice rounds Sunday, with two days of tournament play Monday and Tuesday. The Shangri-La Women’s Golf Association will also be on the course Monday with their regular play day. 18-holers will play a Low Gross/Low Net format. The 9-holers will play Pro Drive.
 
Saturday night at 6:30, Shangri-La Resort will be featured on the Discover Oklahoma television program produced by the Oklahoma Department of Tourism & Recreation. The show airs on Channel 8 in the Tulsa market, Channel 4 in Oklahoma City and on nine other stations and cable systems throughout the state. If you can’t be in front of a television, set your DVR. We had great fun with television personality Cindy Morrison working on the feature which is the first of four Shangri-La spotlights to be featured on the program.
 
We are especially delighted to welcome the Integris Leadership Conference which will finish out a week at the resort with events Thursday and Friday.
 
If you haven’t already made plans to join us for two nights of great Halloween fun, please do so. The dates are rapidly approaching for our Family Halloween Fun Night Friday, October 27 across from the Monkey Island Fire Department and our Halloween Ball Saturday night, October 28 in the Roosevelt Ballroom at the hotel. There is no admission charge to the Friday night family event, although there will be snacks and beverages available for purchase. Saturday night’s Halloween Ball is $49 per person or $95 per couple – and that includes a dinner & dance. Friday night entertainment will be provided by No Apparent Reason who played at our Member Appreciation Party; and Saturday night’s band will be Uninvited Guest. There are fabulous prizes for the Best Costume at the party Saturday night, October 28.  There are also exceptional room rates available for those who want to party late and spend the night! Enjoy PGA Golf, college and NFL football action, Major League Baseball Division Championship play, NBA basketball and, beginning Tuesday, October 24 – the World Series -  with us at Doc’s. We have multiple sports screens to keep up with all the games. Doc’s has rapidly become Grand Lake’s favorite sport for watching great sporting events.
 
The Spa at Shangri-La is open at the hotel Wednesday from 10:00-3:00 and Thursday-Sunday 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Call for reservations for massage therapy, manicures, pedicures, IV therapy, Botox or filler treatment. The girls at the spa also have mani-pedi packages for kids!
