GOLF HISTORY
Golf dates back to the time of Julius Caesar. Although it was not the golf that is played today, it was a similar game. They played by striking a feather-stuffed ball with club-shaped tree branches. Golf was also traced back to the Song Dynasty in China during the years 960 to 1279. The games of these times were not exactly the golf that is known today; the roots of today’s game can be traced back to Scotland in 1457. The game was then outlawed by King James II of Scotland, as it detracted from the training for the military.

GOLF ETIQUETTE
Golf is perceived as a quiet, refined sport and one that requires civility among its
players. Even if you’re not new to the game, it is a good idea to brush up on your golf etiquette from time to time. If you are just starting out, it is essential to learn these important rules before you tee off.

1. Arrive early - Golfers who arrive less than 15 minutes before their scheduled tee time can impose delays on the rest of the tee sheet for the day. Golf Digest suggests arriving 30 minutes early so you have time to check in, warm up and start your game relaxed.
2. Turn off your phone – It is annoying to hear others’ conversations on the course, but when a loud ringtone happens right during your backswing, it can throw off your shot. At the very least, silence your phone’s settings. If you must take a call on the course, move away from other players, talk quietly and keep it brief says.

CHEROKEE GROVE GOLF COURSE REDNECK CROSS COUNTRY TOURNAMENT
The day began with a terrific Biscuits and Gravy breakfast.
The object was to play the course after resetting the tee markers and redesigning the holes.. The was a 4 Person Best Shot (Scramble) golf tournament, playing the course as it has not been played before. Long, long par 6’s and short par 4’s made up the challenge. John Morrow reported the following results: 1 st Low Gross score went to the team of Steve Ragsdale; Regan Dillinger; Danny Killman and Jack Bullard. Second place went to Jerry Ogden Jr, Jerry Ogden Sr, Scott Demick, and Ryan Bralley and the 3rd place was captured by Richard Bassett, Dick Bassett, and Linc Bassett. Low score for the outing was 58. (That’s smokin good). Best Redneck look went to Danny Killman.
