With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, love is in the air. And so is the pressure to do something special for your sweetheart to show them how much you care.

A tropical oasis on Grand Lake, The Parrot Steakhouse and Grill is offering several holiday specials, any of which are sure to satisfy both your date and your wallet.

These Valentine’s Day specials include 10 percent off the appetizer of your choice, Cajun pasta and a side salad for $12.99, a Valentine pasta special for two with chicken fettuccine Alfredo and salad for $19.99, and a fresh, hand-cut Kansas City Strip special for two with baked potato and salad for only $39.99.

Bring your valentine to Shangri-La Resort and Hotel. From a special dinner at Doc’s Bar & Grill to special package rates at the hotel, love is definitely in the air at Shangri-La Resort.

On Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 5 to 11 p.m., Doc’s Bar & Grill will be featuring your choice of beef Wellington or Maine stuffed haddock with salad or soup and either strawberry crème brulee or Chocolate Love for dessert. The Miami Rotary Club will host its third annual Sweetheart Dinner and Auction Tuesday, Feb. 13. Happy hour begins at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m.

Held in the NEO Ballroom, the dinner and auction is an evening of fellowship with friends, a nice meal, entertainment and both a silent and live auction.

Dinner will be provided by Sodexo Catering.

Tickets are $20. A portion of the proceeds will help support local charities as well as the many projects and programs of the Miami Rotary Club.

The Calvary Baptist Church Youth Group is selling chocolate-covered strawberry bouquets for Valentine’s Day. Each bouquet unveils a mouthwatering assortment of half a dozen chocolate-dipped strawberries decorated to perfection.

The Grove High School Show Choir is doing a Valentine Sing-a-Gram fundraiser. On Wednesday, Feb. 14, the show choir will present either a song, a song and a card or a song, card and rose to recipients of the valentine sing-a-grams.

Senders can choose from a selection of songs: “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Lean on Me — Friends,” “For Good” (from Wicked) — Friends, “I’m Yours” and “Bless the Broken Road”.

This Valentine’s Day, find the one and only to melt your heart at Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake as the not-for-profit, private animal shelter celebrates Valentine’s Day with a Valentine’s “Be Mine” Cat Adoption special.

Now through Saturday, Feb. 17, adoption fees have been reduced to $14 when you adopt a Valentine’s Day cat who is “the one” for you. The adoption fee includes spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchip.
